Reusable shopping bag
How's this for going green? The Cartier Marcello de Cartier Shopping Bag! I am usually not a handbag kind of girl - I pretty much just carry a wallet around - but, I LOVE this bag. So classic! It's listed on the Cartier site at $2,200, but I found it at Sacs en Ligne on clearance for $500!! Tempting, isn't it!

To roll or not to roll?
When I'm headed to class, it's usually in a bit of a rush. I head straight from work, sometimes in my corporate wear (ha!) and sometimes I have a chance to pull a switch and change into more comfortable clothes. Yesterday, I showed up at school wearing some skinny jeans with ballet flats (and a shirt, of course, but that doesn't really add to the story). The skinnies were rolled up - I thought it looked pretty cute, but then a girl stopped me and.....

I'm not convinced Katie does either?
By the way, the man tight roll is pretty nasty and a total DON'T in my book.
This looks silly, don't you think?
Beginning of conversation.
Girl: "Can I ask you a kind of strange question?"
Me: "Um.....sure?"
Girl: "Do you roll your jeans because they are too long or because it's fashionable?"
Me: "I guess a little bit of both?"
End of conversation.
I think the more accurate answer was that I did roll them for fashion's sake. Like I said, I thought it looked cute. If my pants were too long, I probably would have them hemmed or wear some heels, right? So, what do you think? Do you roll?
I'm a big fan of the rolled skinny - I think it's so cute and classic!

I haven't tried the boy/baggie jean roll like this - just not so sure I could pull it off.

Spring is in the air
We haven't even hit the hard core winter duldrums here in Oregon and I am already looking for the sun! I just heard about the new H&M Garden Collection for Spring via SHELTER. This dress is so pretty!

Osborne & Little inspiration
Maharani by Osborne & Little.
I have a small obsession with Osborne & Little's collection of wallpaper, and it continues with my discovery of this one - the Maharani! I know! It's amazing, isn't it! I love the shades of purple & gray with the pops orange and persimmon - gorgeous! I've been totally inspired! Mandarin orange garnet & natural african amethyst gold filled necklace.
I love a dress with cowboy boots - this one is gorgeous!
(thanks for introducing me to this designer Elizabeth!)
I also just hand-dyed a couple of slips in purple and the brightest burnt orange - I promise to post some pics - they came out great. This is a super easy & cheap way to replicate some of the beautiful vintage dyed slips in fancy boutiques. I use a vegetable dye (feels less chemically) and you can make that as saturated or pastel-y as you like. Perfect for under your favorite dress!

Going gaga
I have been a ridiculously delinquent blogger this past week, and will have to be for the next couple of days. Things have been crazy - final project due, holiday events, busy work, mom visiting (sleigh rides at the mountain - yeah!). All fun stuff, but totally taking my concentration off of the blogosphere! I just saw this on my little lunch break and had to post it. Is everyone loving this new ad campaign as much as I am? Genius!

I love plastic
I hate the mall. I literally do everything I can to avoid stepping foot in one, especially this time of year. I shop handmade, order on-line, visit boutiques, and peruse the web for fun DIY ideas. I was just online and found the perfect all-in-one shop - they sell clothes, shoes, home goods, fun beauty products, craft items, and more. Plasticland is amazing and here are some great gift ideas I found in the shop:
Art deco girl bookends. $34.
Git and Titonic ice cube tray. $11.50
Foot in the door shoe doorstop. $8.50.
Dumpling Dynasty shoe shine kit. $21.
And, of course, I couldn't help but find a few cute things for myself.......
2-tone spat button platform bootie pumps. $42.
ps. They're vegan friendly!
Polka dot retro cropped jacket. On sale (yeah!) for $68.40.
Happy shopping!

I need a vacation
I love to travel, but for some reason have never been really into the whole cruise thing. The idea of living on a casino/shopping mall/club for a week and looking at the same strangers everyday doesn't really appeal, at least to me. Not to mention the fact that there are all sorts of germs and things incubating on those ships - eww!!
Karl Lagerfeld's 2010 cruise collection for Chanel is making me reconsider a few things. The man is a serious genius, and I am absolutely loving the lace & stripes from his latest. Not to mention the setting, the hair & the makeup - brilliant! If I can wear some of these while hopping on the boat, I might just have to start cruising.

Adorable stripes and sock lust...
I am in a bit of a rush today, but had to share a few new items I am probably going to put on my Christmas wish list. I am having a striped moment and am craving them for my wardrobe.
I just saw this adorable sweater dress. I think I might be in love - cozy and cute!

Pump up the volume
Lately, I am absolutely loving big, puffy skirts. Maybe it's the girly side of me coming out or something, but I can't seem to get enough. They're so feminine and fun! And they really allow you to have some fun with what you are wearing!
Hermes.
SJP (via People), filming the new SATC in Morocco.
Most of the world could not get away with the outfits Carrie Bradshaw puts on -
how luck is SJP that she gets to wear these clothes???
Chloe. I love that these are totally casual and completely wearable.
They look super comfy, too! I want to put them on right now!
Dior. They kind of look like they are headed out to church, but I still love it, especially that stained glass in the background.
Via The Sartorialist. She looks gorgeous!
Isaac Mizrahi. I love the fitted knit top with the huge skirt!
Yay - it's Wednesday - only two more days until the weekend!
Hope you are all having a great week!

Budget blues
As much as it pains me to do so, I've recently been reviewing my budget. I've decided that it's high time I re-evaluate things and make some changes in my spending habits. I've got bills to pay, right? And retirement to save for, and the college education of my future children to start planning....yikes! I've always been more of a live in the moment, non-committal kind of gal, so this "planning for the future" thing can be a little bit overwhelming.
I decided it was the clothes budget that had to go first. So, in a quest to merge my new fiscally sound self, with my urge to splurge I happened upon www.gojane.com. The clothes look a bit hoochie-momma, right? But the shoes are ridiculously adorable....and ridiculously cheap! I used some celebrity inspiration, so you can see the whole look. Check it!
